Eric Ogola

Eric Ogola graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of
Nairobi in 1990 and was admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 1992. He holds a
Masters (LL.M.) degree in maritime law from the University of Cape Town. Born in
1966, Mr. Ogola was immediately before the merger a partner in the Firm of Ogola
& Ochwa, Advocates. Career Highlights include:
- Expansive legal experience gained as an associate advocate and in
partnership with hands on experience in the maritime and admiralty practice,
consultancies in maritime legislations and interpretation of International
maritime conventions.
- Development of rules, regulations and standards under domestic and
international treaties and conventions in maritime field.
- Consultancies in international trade and conservation and protection of the
marine environment.
- Served as a member of the Task force of the Government of Kenya appointed
to Review and Harmonize all maritime and related laws in the country between
2002 and 2004, which culminated in the Maritime Policy Paper, Marine
Pollution Bill, Maritime Authority Bill among other maritime related Bills.
- Served as a Legal Researcher for the Integrated Transport Policy Task force
charged with review and harmonization of laws and policies in the transport
sector ranging from road, sea, rail, water and air culminating in the National
Transport Policy, 2004.
- Served the Ministry of Trade and Industry as a consultant in the areas of Trade
Policy Analysis and Regional Trade Integration.
- A member of the Committee Maritime International (CMI) and founder
Chairman of the Kenya Maritime Law Association.
Mr Ogola is the Head of Maritime, Aviation, Insurance and Legal Research Division. |
